SmartFix RINEX Data & Post-Processing Guide

If you are conducting static surveys or require data for post-processing kinematics (PPK) rather than real-time corrections, you can download static observation files directly from the SmartFix network via the X-Pos RINEX Download Service.

1. Licensing & Access Requirements

The X-Pos RINEX downloader is a premium, license-based service. To access it, your SmartFix subscription must have an active X-Pos license attached to your login credentials.

If you do not see the "RINEX Data" option in your dashboard, please contact your Global Survey sales representative.

NOTE: Global Survey occasionally offers trial periods for the X-Pos service, allowing you to test post-processing workflows before committing to an annual administrative license.

2. Navigating the X-Pos Downloader

  1. Login: Navigate to the SmartFix Site Overview dashboard at www.smartfix.co.nz/SBC and log in using your standard SmartFix NTRIP credentials.
  2. Access the Tool: On the left-hand sidebar, navigate to Post Processing > RINEX Data.
  3. Availability: The portal displays the data availability for all hosted reference stations over the last 30 days. Clicking the percentage icon (%) will provide a detailed completeness summary.

3. Selecting and Downloading Your Data

Once in the RINEX Data portal, follow these steps to extract your target files:

  1. Define Your Timeframe: Use the calendar icon to specify your precise Start Date and Start Time. Adjust the blue slider to define the exact duration of the data you require.
  2. Select Your Stations: You can select target reference stations either by clicking them graphically on the interactive map or by checking the boxes next to their station names in the right-hand list.
  3. Formatting Options: SmartFix allows you to configure your output before downloading. You can choose to merge multiple 15-minute file blocks into a single continuous file, and you can specify a custom observation rate (e.g., thinning 1-second data down to 5-second intervals).
  4. Submit & Confirm: Click Submit. A summary popup will appear detailing file sizes and requested timeframes. Click Confirm to process the request.
  5. Download: The system prepares your data in standard RINEX v3.x format compressed into .zip files. You can enter a project name for archiving (files are retained on the server for 3 months) and select Download All to save them locally.

4. Off-Portal Station Requests

IMPORTANT: Not all active SmartFix Network Reference Stations are hosted on the self-service X-Pos RINEX portal.

Because Global Survey pays external administration and licensing fees for every individual reference station exposed to the self-service RINEX tool, a smaller, curated sub-set of the national network is maintained on the X-Pos portal to keep subscription costs viable.

What if the station I need isn't listed? If you require raw static data from an active SmartFix reference station that is not currently accessible via your X-Pos dashboard, do not panic. The raw data is still actively recorded and archived on Global Survey's backend servers.

Simply contact the dedicated SmartFix team at Smartfix@globalsurvey.co.nz or general technical support at support@globalsurvey.co.nz with the following details:

* The required Station ID or Location

* The exact Date and Time window (Please specify New Zealand time vs. GPS time).

* The required Observation Interval (e.g., 1 sec, 5 sec).

The support team manually extracts the necessary RINEX files from the backend archives and securely delivers them to you.
