How to configure a GS05 eSim for SmartFix

The GS05 LTE models have an integrated 4G/LTE eSim device.  This guide explains how to activate your eSim on the GS05.

The items required to activate an eSim on a GS05 are as follows

  • The SM-DP+ Address - this is the address of your network provider's server
  • The Activation code is unique to your own eSIM
  • The Confirmation code goes with the Activation code, but is optional
  • The eSim PUK
  • The APN

You may receive some of this information embedded in a QR code and some via email text.

Scan the QR code with an app that lets you view the underlying link.  DO NOT accept any invitation to activate the eSim on your phone!

To apply the eSim:

Start Captivate, Connected to a GS05.

  • Use Captivate to Connect GS05 to the Internet via WLAN:
    • In Connection Settings, GS connections page, highlight GS WLAN and press Edit. Enter the settings to connect to your WLAN.
    • In Connection Settings, GS connections page, highlight GS internet and press Edit.
      • In Internet Connection, select Connect using: GS modem. Press OK.
    • In Connection Settings, highlight GS Internet and press CONTROL.
      • Check Enable eSIM.
      • Press New.
      • In Internet Connection, eSIM page enter the information from the QR code
        • eSIM profile label as name for the profile.
        • SM-DP+ address as provided
        • Activation code as provided
        • Confirmation code (optional) if provided
      • Press OK to install the profile.
      • Press Enable to activate the eSIM profile. This may take a minute to activate.
  • Configure the phone settings.
    • • In Internet Connection, APN page enter the APN.
    • • In Internet Connection, Sim codes page enter the PIN (if provided) and PUK.
      • Most eSIM profiles do not require any PIN code.
  • GS05 is connected to the Internet.

Create a new RTK Profile that uses the GS modem for RTK operations

  • Settings – Connection – RTK Rover Wizard
  • Create a new profile or Edit an existing one and make a copy
    • Name - GS05 eSim SmartFix
    • Connection – Internet
    • Port – GS modem
    • Network Type – Automatic
    • PIN and PUK – Enter them if provided
    • APN – Enter your carrier’s APN
    • Select or Enter your Server as usual.
