[Leica Viva Software](https://knowledgebase.globalsurvey.co.nz/surveying?hsLang=en#leica-viva-software) # Loading new firmware to Leica Viva products ## How to load firmware on your Leica GS14 GNSS, Leica CS15 Controller or Leica TS15 Total Station **Loading Firmware to GNSS GS14 receiver** *\*\*Prior to starting: Make sure the battery is fully charged in the GNSS receiver\*\** 1. Copy the Viva GNSS file GS14+WinCE\_v8.00.fw to the System folder on a Micro SD Card and insert into GS14. 2. Connect to CS15 as normal and go to Windows by selecting Fn and back arrow. From the Windows screen run the program Webserver(BT). 3. Tap the User Menu icon then click on Load Firmware. 4. Tick the 2 boxes at the bottom labelled ".fw file on GS SD Card" and "I have read and agree to the legal agreement". 5. Tick the GREEN + Load new firmware. Firmware should now be loading and it will take about 10 minutes and then it will notify you to refresh the page and then close down Webserver BT and go back to Viva. After a few more minutes the CS15 and GS14 should connect via Bluetooth but you will likely get a message saying incompatible firmware. This is fine. GIVE THIS PLENTY OF TIME DO NOT POWER DOWN OR CLOSE TOO SOON. **Loading Firmware to CS15 Controller** *\*\*Prior to starting: Make sure the battery is fully charged in the CS15\*\** 1. Delete all the Apps in the CS15 first by going to User/Tools and Utilities/Format Data storage and select Apps then click "OK". 2. Copy the Viva+WinCE\_v8.00\_EN.fw file into the system folder of an SD Card and insert into CS15. Make sure no other firmware files are in System folder. 3. Go to User/Tools and Utilities/Load Firmware and Apps. Object to transfer is Firmware from SD Card and it should show the above file name. Click "OK". 4. Tick the box labelled "You have read the legal agreement" then click "OK". It will tell you that the process is going to take a number of minutes and that it may power up/down. Click "Yes". 5. Leave the CS15 for about 15 minutes. Once it has completed everything it will power back up to Viva software. All settings and jobs will be retained and updated to this version. 6. Copy ver 8.00 Apps that you are eligible for into the SD Card and repeat the above process except this time select Apps as the Object to transfer. **Loading Firmware to TS15 Total Station** *\*\*Prior to starting: Make sure the battery is fully charged in the TS15\*\** 1. Copy the VivaTS+FW+WinCE\_v8.00\_EN.fw file onto the SD Card system folder and insert into TS15. Make sure no other firmware files reside on the card. 2. Turn TS15 on and delete all the apps in the CS15 first by going to User/Tools and Utilities/Format Data storage. Select Apps then click "OK". 3. Go to User/Tools and Utilities/Load Firmware/Apps. Object to transfer is Firmware from SD Card and it should show the above file name then click "OK". 4. Tick the box labelled "You have read the legal agreement" then click OK. It will tell you that the process is going to take a number of minutes and that it may power up/down. Click Yes. 5. Leave the TS15 for about 15 minutes and it will eventually boot up back into Viva. 6.
