How to Connect Trimble to SmartFix
This guide explains how to configure a Trimble controller running Trimble Access (such as the TSC3, TSC7, or T10) to receive RTK corrections from the SmartFix network.
1. Creating the GNSS Contact (Internet Connection)
Before selecting your survey style, you must establish how the controller connects to the SmartFix servers via the internet.
- From the Trimble Access main menu, select Settings.

Select Connect.

Select GNSS Contacts.

Select New to create a contact, or select an existing one and choose Edit / Copy.

Check the box for Use NTRIP.

Configure the critical SmartFix server details:
- NTRIP username: Enter your SmartFix User ID.
- NTRIP password: Enter your SmartFix Password (Case Sensitive).
- IP Address: Enter
www.smartfix.co.nz(or60.234.42.123). - IP Port: Enter the port for your region (e.g.,
4819for Auckland Fixed). Refer to the Connection Parameters table.

- Press Store to save the GNSS Contact.
2. Configuring the Survey Style
Now you need to tell your Survey Style to use the GNSS Contact you just created, and specify the format of the corrections.
- Return to the Settings menu and select Survey Styles.

Select New to create a style (e.g.,
SmartFix Network), or edit an existing RTK style.
- Select Rover Options.

- Configure the RTK settings based on your chosen port:
- Survey Type: Select RTK.
- Broadcast format:
- If using a Fixed (Network) port (e.g.,
4819), select VRS (RTCM). - If using a Single Base port (e.g.,
4809), select Multi station (RTCM).

- If using a Fixed (Network) port (e.g.,
- Enter your standard Rover antenna details and press Accept.
- Next, select Rover data link from the Survey Style menu.

- Configure the link to use the internet:
- Type: Select Internet connection.
- GNSS Contact: Select the SmartFix contact you created in Section 1.

- Press Accept and then Store the Survey Style.
3. Starting the Survey & Selecting a Mountpoint
- From the main menu, select General Survey (or your preferred survey module).

Select Measure and choose your new
SmartFix NetworkSurvey Style.

Select Measure points (or Continuous Topo) to initialise the connection.
- Because you are connecting to an NTRIP server, Trimble Access will download the "Source Table" and display a list of available mountpoints.
- Select the required mountpoint for your area (e.g.,
AUCKfixedADV4).

- Press Enter. Your rover will dial out, receive corrections, and initialise.
