This guide assumes that the RTK Profile, Working Style and GS connections are already configured. This guide is for Leica Captivate v4 and above.
Step 1: Prepare the system
- Turn on the CS20 controller, the GNSS Rover and the GNSS Reference antennae
- From the Home screen, select Settings, then Connections, then RTK Rover Wizard
- Select Load an existing profile, then F6 Next
- Select a suitable base/rover Radio profile from the drop-down list
- Select F6-Finish
- The icon on the status line shows a radio modem
Step 2: Create a job

From the Home screen, press F6 Jobs

Select F2 New, then give the job a name

Select F6 Page, then choose your required coordinate system. The coordinate system definition may include a geoid model.

Select F6 Page, then choose your code list

Select F1 Store, then F1 OK

If you have data to load into the job, insert a USB in the base of the controller with a CSV file in the Data folder

In this QRG we will use a text file (Point,N,E,H,Code with or without a header line)

From the Home Screen, Select the job in the job carousel

Import Data - ASCII/GSI
-
Data type - ASCII Data
-
From – USB
-
From file – Select the required CSV file
-
To Job – Pick your job
-
Select F3 Display to review the file content

Close “X” to close the viewer

Select Fn – F1 Settings to define the order of the data in the file

F1 OK to save the changes
-
F1 OK to Import

Tap on the job in the carousel

Select View and Edit data
-
Confirm the points have imported, then F1 OK

Make sure your job is in the center of the job carousel
Step 3: Start the base
- From the Home screen, select Switch to Base from the Apps carousel
- After the base is connected…
- Select Base Setup, then Over Known Point (you may also use “over known point” option if you do not have the base station coordinate)
- Slot the height hook into the tribrach and read to the white line on the height hook. Enter the antenna height
- Make sure the Antenna type is GS16 Tripod
- Select the point ID for the base
- Select F6 Next, then Return to Rover mod
Step 4: Start a survey
- After a few seconds in Rover mode, the position icon will change to a cross, showing that the rover has initialised
- From the Home screen, Select the Measure app
- Enter a Point ID
- Enter the antenna height (1.8 or 2m on snap lock pole)
- Select F6 Page
- Select Find and add codes
- Select a code for the point you are measuring (if required)
- When ready to measure, press F1 Measure
- The point will be stored
- Repeat step 11 for each surveyed point
If the code is for a stringable feature (e.g. Top of Bank) a default string number will be present. Select + or – to change string number to create a new string
Step 5: Export ASCII Data
- Insert a USB into the base of the controller
- From the Home Screen, Select the job in the job carousel
- Export data – ASCII
- To device – USB
- To folder – Data
- Output filename – enter as required
- Select Fn F1 Settings
- Select the required delimiter, which fields to export and the order of export
- Select F1 OK
- Select F1 OK
Step 6: Export DXF Data
- Insert a USB into the base of the controller
- From the Home screen, Select the job in the job carousel
- Export data – DXF
- To device – USB
- To folder – Data
- Output filename – enter as required

Select Fn F1 Settings

Check the 3 pages of settings match your requirements
